Music Vs. Podcasts

Joe Rogan Questions Everything - Season 1

Smartphones have created a world where no one has to be bored. No matter what you’re up to, you can be enjoying music, listening to a podcast, or even reading a book. Books are even easier now that services like Audible exist.

More often than not, if my headphones are in, I’m listening to podcasts. It’s pretty cool to hear so much content. My life has been thoroughly enriched by these weird and thoughtful conversations. I’ve even been inspired to do my own podcasts (though only one has made it to iTunes).

I’ve noticed lately I’ve had a real craving for music again.

There are a few reasons why I’ve been enjoying music so much lately. The first is that everyone seems stuck talking about the cunty state of the world. Current events are a god damned drag and if you want to avoid unbearable sadness, you have to avoid the media. Unfortunately that includes podcasts.

Second, I finally got into Spotify. Now I know I’m late to the game, it’s evil to artists, and my favorite pop singer, Taylor Swift, is not down with it. But holy shit is it a great service. You pay $10 a month and most of the world’s great music is available anytime. What a time to be alive.

That’s all I have. It’s not much. I have to go write slogans for snack foods now.
